Ford’s iconic beauty, the pony car that has been the world’s most popular muscle car since five decades is now, finally in India as well. The Mustang is here to delight the Indian customers. For the first time in its 52-year history, Ford’s iconic Mustang is ready for Indian roads. The Mustang is available at a price of Rs. 65 lakhs (Ex-Showroom-Delhi).
Sporting a sleek design, the new Ford Mustang features 19-inch wheels, automatic HID headlamps, LED tail lamps, a rear diffuser, dual-zone climate control, 9-speaker sound system, and voice-enabled SYNC 2 connectivity with an 8-inch colour touchscreen as standard equipment. Available in six colour options -- Absolute Black, Ingot Silver, Oxford White, Triple Yellow Tricoat, Magnetic and the signature Race Red – the new Mustang promises world-class levels of performance and refinement while embracing the Mustang’s half-century of heritage and status as a global automotive icon.
The all-new refurbished design of the Mustang looks mind-boggling. The long sculpted bonnet with a short rear deck that has been beautifully crafted in order to retain design cues from the original Mustang makes the car retain the essential character of the brand. Other key design elements includes three-dimensional tribar headlamps, a sleeker profile enabled by more steeply sloped windshield and rear glass and a revamped signature shark-bite front fascia and trapezoidal grille. As far as the interiors go, the Mustang gets a well-executed cabin suited to the needs of the driver. A large, high-definition display screen puts vehicle information right in front of the driver with tactile switches & knobs improving ergonomics and providing better control. The Mustang gets a 9-speaker with amplifier sound system embedded adding to the overall experience. In addition, it gets smart Keyless Entry with Push Button Start and Ford’s SYNC 2 system as well.
Mustang is all about driving ergonomics. Under the hood of the vehicle is a throaty 5.0-litre V8 engine, featuring an upgraded valve-train and cylinder heads, delivering a peak power of 401 PS with 515 Nm of torque with a top speed of 250 km/h. This enormous power is controlled by a 6-speed Select-Shift automatic transmission setup. The car gets four different driving modes which changes the chassis and powertrain settings thus suiting a particular driving condition, these options includes Normal, Snow/Wet, Sports+ mode and Track mode which is the most integral mode as it throws all the 401 horses under the right foot of the driver to feel the legendary thump of the Mustang.
Ford’s engineers have not compromised on the safety front and the car is equipped with a whole load of safety equipments which includes 8 airbags along with the glovebox knee-airbag for front passenger, additional crash sensors at the front sides and centre of the car, Ford MyKey option that allows to limit the top speed, audio system settings and to set limits to prevent the disabling of driver-assist features. The new Ford Mustang would be a CBU unit that would be produced at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in the United States.
Commenting on this auspicious occasion, Mr. Anurag Mehrotra, executive director, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford India said,
Mustang is more than just a car. It gives you the freedom to express and epitomises the passion and fun-of-driving inherent in all Ford vehicles. The arrival of the Mustang will shine a bright light on the blue oval along with the rest of the Ford range and will help us demonstrate our potential.
