I did a full feature of the brand new Matchbox VW Transporter Cab the other day and I hope you checked it out! When I did the feature, I didn't yet have the truck bed variation that others had seen, which I've since found. Since the variation exists, keep an eye out for it. I call it the 'gear' variation since it has a spare tire, luggage and other gear and equipment molded into the plastic truck bed. I think the model looks better with the gear molded into it, but I had to have both variations.
So far, the 'with gear' variation has been harder for me to find. Of 8 I've found on the pegs, only 2 (or 25%) have had the 'gear'. It's a small sample size though and the two variations may end up appearing in equal quantities. It's fun when Mattel does little variations like this for us collectors. Sure, it forces us to buy the model twice, but who can pass up a good variations. Take a look at the photos below and make sure you keep an eye out for it at your local retailer!
