Akrapovič, the Slovenian performance exhaust specialist, has added another impressive exhaust system to its portfolio with the launch of the Evolution Line (Titanium) for the Mercedes-AMG C 63 and C 63 S Sedan (W205), and Estate (S205).
Perfectly formed using specially developed ultra-lightweight titanium alloys and finished with hand-crafted matte carbon-fibre tailpipes, this beautifully designed system is designed to replace either the base stock exhaust or the performance stock exhaust system for the Mercedes-AMG C 63 and C 63 S Sedan, and Estate.
The Evolution Line exhaust system consists of two mufflers both incorporating titanium valves, which are cast in Akrapovič’s in-house foundry, and has the unique active X-connection fitted to it. Also built in the in-house foundry, the ultralight active X-connection contains a valve flap in the middle designed to provide optimal sound and performance results in all of the car’s modes.
The active X-connection offers two defined sound characteristics and three different driving sound settings. In Comfort and Sport mode, the X-connection is open, which yields a more continuous and refined sound with higher frequencies. The rear valves are closed at low revs in Comfort mode for a quieter and more comfortable ride, and in Sport mode the rear valves are usually open, which delivers a sporty but still refined sound with enhanced higher frequencies. In Sport+ and Race mode, the middle valve is closed and the rear valves are open. The system is perfectly tuned by Akrapovič’s sound engineers to maximize the sound output and give the cars a sporty and intense muscle car V8 roar, without losing any of the typical AMG sound and appeal. The optional Akrapovič Sound Kit controller allows the user to choose the exhaust mode regardless of the chosen mode of the vehicle. It has a major effect on the sound and is a recommended upgrade when replacing the base exhaust system.
Performance has also been increased over stock systems with the Evolution Line system, delivering an extra 5.9 kW (8 HP) at 2,000 rpm, and an impressive boost of torque at 1,850 rpm of 27.9 Nm (20.6 lb-ft). This added performance, allied with a huge weight savings of over 45% compared to the stock base system, makes the Evolution Line a very impressive addition to the car, as well as aiding handling due to the reduced weight.
The Evolution Line system (Titanium) is ECE type approved because the catalytic converters remain as stock parts on the car’s downpipes, making the system an easy-to-connect performance upgrade. With no need to remap the ECU or add any other parts, it is just a simple plug-and-play installation and is supplied with full easy-to-follow fitting instructions.
The Mercedes-AMG C 63 and C 63 S Sedan, and Estate are formidable high-performance machines with incredible power and an appealing sound, and these characteristics can be further improved with the addition of the exquisite Akrapovič Evolution Line (Titanium) exhaust system, which adds performance and style to these commanding cars, along with an amazing soundtrack.
