Clean vs. Dirty: M2 1965 Ford Econoline Camper Vans!

A few months back, M2 Machines released the 1965 Ford Econoline Camper Van in Release 38, an Auto Trucks mix. Fast forward to release 40, and the M2 Ford Econoline Camper re-appears in the Auto-Projects lineup.

M2 Machines uses the Ford Econoline and Ford Falcon castings frequently, but this pair of Econoline Campers is special. First off, release 40 is just the 3rd time we've seen an Auto Projects mix. Auto Projects are standard M2 models covered in faux-dirt and feature barn-find characteristics like broken windows. Second, the Auto Projects M2 Ford Econoline is limited to just 3880 pieces. Compared to 6-10k on a standard M2 release, it's nice to have something a little more limited. Most interestingly, the Auto Projects Econoline Camper is identical to its Auto Trucks counterpart except that the project model is covered in 'dirt' and has a cracked windshield. Oh, and the higher production numbers mean there are 2-3 times as many clean versions as there are dirty.

The Auto Projects M2 Ford Econoline is pretty darn cool. Sure, M2 can be criticized for using the same model twice, but it makes for a very interesting comparison and a pair that displays quite nicely. I'm in. Happy Collecting!!
