2017 Hot Wheels 'E' Case Highlights!

2 new 2017 case code highlights in 2 days? Yup, you bet. Mattel is doing a great job of getting product to the pegs. While my local WalMarts are stuck on the 'B' case and Toys R Us the 'C' case, a local grocery store got a 'D' case on Tuesday. By Saturday, the same store had an 'E' case. Winning.

Here are the 2017 Cases so Far:

The 'E' case is a doozie. It includes several great repeats like the Fugu Z, but today we'll look at the new-for-this-case highlights. Those alone are mind-blowing. The winner is a toss up between the Gas Monkey Garage '68 Corvette (Midas) and the '56 Custom Ford Truck. The Ford looks great with it's rusty, patina look and earns the honor of debuting the new deep dish mainline wheel. The wheels are fantastic and the truck is even better. The Corvette is getting a slew of attention thanks to the popular TV Show Gas Monkey Garage, and Hot Wheels has released a bevy of nicer Vettes than this one, but it's hard to ignore the blown engine, clean gold paint scheme and fantastic tail end detailing on that '68.

Other highlights include the sophomore release of the Lamborghini Super Troffeo and the Ford Mustang GT Convertible. In blue, the Mustang is the biggest surprise of the bunch for me. It's also hard to ignore the fantastic re-color of the '55 Chevy BelAir Gasser and the Lincoln Continental. Both castings look better recolored in blue than they did in their respective initial releases. I can't forget that lime green Porsche either, but I think the pictures tell its story well enough.
