No one likes when Mattel releases the exact same car twice. And usually they don't. For example, this year's Simpson's Family Car has different wheels from the otherwise identical 2016 version. The only car I can think of in recent memory that was released identically apart from card artwork was The Homer in 2014 and 2015.
At first glance, the 2017 Hot Wheels Beatles Yellow Submarine appears to be identical to the 2016 Hot Wheels Beatles Yellow Submarine. But that's not the case. There's a subtle color difference in the plastic upper portion on each casting. The 2016 model was harder to find than this year's Beatles Yellow Submarine (at least for me) and features a 'golden yellow' top, whereas the 2017 features a more mustard-yellow color. The 2017 color is somewhat darker but also paler. It's not as 'yellow' and has brownish hints. Check out the photos. You'll see what I mean.
Here's the 2016 Beatles Yellow Submarine:
Now, Look at the 2017 Hot Wheels Beatles Yellow Submarine:
Notice how the 2017 is a duller yellow? I personally think the 2016 looks better, but now you know how to tell them apart.

Happy Collecting!!
