I'm up-to-date on another casting, and you should be able to get up-to-date pretty quickly on this one as well. With only 4 mainline releases, the '14 Corvette Stingray isn't a tough one to collect, but it's a nice, clean mainline. The last installment in our casting-up-to-date series featured the '76 Greenwood Corvette. What can I say, my Vette game is strong lately!
The '14 Stingray Convertible is the topless counterpart to the '14 Corvette Stingray casting. The hardtop has already seen a Toy Fair, RLC and Super Treasure Hunt release. The convertible is a little easier to track down. And while I prefer the look of the hardtop, the convertible is no slouch either. It's low slung, with nice body lines and fantastic front/rear detailing. Fortunately for us, we haven't had any side tampos on the casting either. That allows the tampos to be appropriated to the front/rear of the casting which gives us some extra realism.
This is one of those Hot Wheels castings that could be a Matchbox with its clean realism. While it's not the first Corvette that comes to most collector's minds, it's an underappreciated gem and an easy one to get up-to-date on. Enjoy the photos!
Happy Collecting!!
