Chase vs. Regular: Racing Champions Mint 1985 Ford Bronco!

 Here we are with round 3 of our new 'chase vs. regular' series. It's really fun to compare regular and chase versions of different cars from different brands. At least I think so anyways. Racing Champions Mint is a recently revived brand under the Round 2 banner, the same company who brings us Auto World and Johnny Lightning. There are relatively few Racing Champions Mint chases so far, as the brand is just starting its renaissance. Since Racing Champions is smaller, there are less chase pieces out there as well.

Racing Champions Mint launched 4 Broncos in 2016. You can check them out here. Release 1 A+B and Release 1 C+D. Each pair of releases will have one chase piece between them. For the first pair of Broncos, the tan Bronco gets gold wheels and dark window tint. The second pair of Broncos (releases C and D) will also see a 'Gold Strike' chase piece, but that one will feature a shiny gold body. I say will because I have yet to see one. Even on eBay.

For now, let's talk about this chase Bronco. This is one of those chases that doesn't do a lot for me. Gold rims don't add anything to the overall presentation and the darkly tinted windows are only a slight upgrade. I have seen sneak peeks of the C/D release chase Bronco Gold Strike with a fully gold body and it does look fantastic. This chase is nice, but not a real upgrade over the regular version. But since I have all of the other Racing Champions Mint Broncos, and got this one cheap, it joins my collection. Enjoy!

2 British Formula 1 Legends and their 1/64 Scale Racing Cars!

Nigel Mansell won the Formula 1 World Championship in 1992. Lewis Hamilton most recently took the same title in 2015. Needless to say, winning a Formula 1 World Championship is a rare feat. It seems like finding proper 1/64 scale replicas of Formula 1 racing cars is an even rarer feat. Outside of the occasional promotional model from Bburago and Kyosho, there's a serious lack of 1/64 scale replicas of the cars that compete at the highest level of motorsport.

Nonetheless, a few stellar 1/64 scale F1 race cars do pop up from time to time. Here's a pair of cars belonging to two great world champions. The first is Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes, replicated in intricate detail by Spark Diecast. Spark is known for attention to detail and boutique, hand crafted models. They're next level. Stroll over to their website and read the 'about us' page. The second car you're looking at today is Nigel Mansell's Williams car. I'm not 100% sure on the release date, but it's a Matchbox from the 1990s.

While the Spark Mercedes is about as good as it gets for 1/64 scale diecast in the modern era, Formula 1 or not, the Matchbox Williams is nothing to sneeze at for a basic model released over 20 years ago. It gets a metal base and metal body, wheel tampos and great tampo/paint quality.

I'm not an expert on Formula 1 diecast, but I enjoy both of these 1/64 scale replicas belonging to 2 British legends and 2 legends of Formula 1 racing. Enjoy!

Chase vs. Regular: Greenlight 'Bobby's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle'!

 
I stopped into Toys R Us last Tuesday afternoon. I had my car in for service and had a few minutes to kill, so I headed over to Toys R Us. I've cut way back on hunting lately, but anyhow, I ended up talking to one of the employees there. She noticed I was checking out the Greenlights and mentioned how she'd love to find one of the Supernatural Impalas. Turns out this employee was a hardcore Supernatural fan. She told me her and a few friends were headed to the Supernatural Convention in the US in a couple months. They have a convention for one TV show?! I haven't even watched a single episode.

While I'm not a Supernatural super-fan like the Toys R Us employee I ran into, I have a huge appreciation for the cars Greenlight has replicated from the show. While I have no knowledge of the TV show, I'm a bit of a nerd for the Greenlights that have resulted from it. I was able to share some info about upcoming Supernatural Greenlight releases with the TRU employee. There are some great cars from the show that are slated for the next few months, but for now, let's check out the coolest Supernatural-themed Greenlight yet: Bobby's 1971 Chevelle.

This Chevelle is mad cool in both regular and Green Machine form. The rusty/patina look and the dirty/primer look all in one model make for a fantastic release. Enjoy, and check out our last installment in the new 'chase vs. regular' series of posts!
